| Arrived in Boston harbor on board the ship "Hector" on 26 June 1637 and moved and helped found the city of New Haven soon after that. 1601: William Peck, the immigrant, was born in the London area of England. John Davenport and others in the ship "Hector", arriving at Boston, from London. A persistent effort to trace the line of his progenitors involving much time and a large expense, has proved unsuccessful. 1638: Founder of the New Haven Colony, he was one of the original proprietors of New Haven. He was a merchant by occupation, a trustee, treasurer, and the general business agent of the Colony Collegiate School, established on the basis of the Hopkins fund.
